The Common Data Set (CDS) items and definitions will be used on the fall surveys of several major publishers, including that of the College Board. The intention is to incorporate the input of hundreds of college admission officials and high school counselors, as well as representatives from national education associations. The goal of the CDS is to improve the comparability of data reported by colleges and to ease each institution's burden by asking questions in a standard way on numerous surveys.
